Sundown, yellow moon, I replay the past

nag record ako ng cover version ng “If you see her, say hello“, dedicated sa lahat ng mga member ng SMAP. galing ito sa sentimental “blood on the tracks” masterpiece ni dylan. a poor copy compared to the original, if i might add, but worth listening to, kung gusto ninyong intindihin ang lyrics.

nung una ay quote galing kay keats ang pinayo ni dochovny pero humirit ang anak niya ng “is that the best you can do, dad? how about something from this century”, hence the dylan song as fatherly advice.

i love it when shows on TV reference lines from songs i like.

Little Boxes

which one do you think is better?

Hey, You’ve Got to Hide Your Love Away

one of my earliest favorites – “You’ve got to hide your love away“. where did i first heard this? i can’t remember if it was in the “help” movie. i was so young at the time.

HOW YOU GONNA SEE ME NOW?

bukod sa aking very special gift (ahem) ay may kanta rin ako sa iyo this year mylab, especially recorded sa loob ng banyo ng apartment natin para may echo epeks. hehehe. alam ko, hindi ito love song in the normal way that love song goes. sino ba naman ang gustong makarinig ng kanta tungkol sa isang alcoholic, pero alam ko na gusto mo ito. happy 16th year anniversary.

with so much love,
jay

Ang Dasal ng Taong Walang Diyos

Sino Ako” – my very first music video.

I’ve heard there was a secret chord that David played, and it pleased the Lord

Hallelujah – leonard cohen’s masterpiece and my personal favorite. sinubukan kong kantahin pero hanggang first part lang. mahirap kasi itong i-deliver dahil yung phrasing ay dapat spot on. KD lang covered this song and jet and i love to play it all the time.

opening stanza pa lang, pamatay na…

I’ve heard there was a secret chord
That David played, and it pleased the Lord
But you don’t really care for music, do you?
It goes like this
The fourth, the fifth
The minor fall, the major lift
The baffled king composing Hallelujah

‘tangina, sana ganito ako kagaling magsulat.

pakinggan ang batjay’s twisted pinoy version ng “HALLELUJAH” na handog pa rin sa inyo ng “Tito Remy’s Kesong Puti, ang kesong gawa sa kupal” – subukan ang bagong laing flavor na gawa sa kupal ng supot na bicolano.

this is an audio post - click to play

A REASON TO BELIEVE

pinasikat ni rod stewart ang kantang ito na ni record niya nung taon na pinanganak ako – 1965. it’s still fresh now as it was then. ano ba ang ibig sabihin ng kantang ito?

If I listened long enough to you
Id find a way to believe that its all true
Knowing that you lied straight-faced while I cried
Still I look to find a reason to believe

maraming mga uto-uto sa mundo

WHEN YOU’RE OLD ENOUGH TO REPAY, BUT YOUNG ENOUGH TO SELL

it’s a rainy and a little bit cold sunday afternoon. to pass the time, i did two recordings of neil young’s “tell me why“. don’t ask my why.

ever since i was a kid, i always wished i had his distinct shrill voice but my dad’s genes gave me and my brothers very deep voices. the best i could do in this case was to speed up the recording during post production. here are the results.

1. the original version using my natural voice

2. the chipmunk version neil young imitation

hmmm…. somehow, i kinda like the chipmunk version better. what do you think?

Freedom’s just another word for nothing left to lose

I love the Janis Joplin cover of the Kris Kristofferson song. Here’s my take on Me and Bobby Mcgee.
