PLEASE BE WITH ME – i love songs that mention gypsies. one of the earliest clapton songs i’ve heard. i love the easy bluesy melody of this song.
LET IT BE ME – classic everly brothers song. jackson browne did a cover and that’s the version i like.
HOMEWARD BOUND – simon and garfunkel classic. a song that came to mind last weekend. there we were – a pinoy couple uprooted from singapore trying to spend their first christmas in california and terribly missing home.

isa sa paborito kong kanta ng apo hiking society. kung di ako nagkakamali, galing ito sa “pagkatapos ng palabas” lp na ni-release nila under the old JEM record label. i remember my dad took me to the JEM record office in cubao during the late 70′s at nakita ko roon sina danny javier. he gave me a copy of the record together with a lot of other goodies.
in 1979, supertramp released an LP called “breakfast in america”. classic record dahil walang tapon na kanta. ang isa sa mga paborito ko roon ay ang kantang “casual conversations“.
pakinggan ninyo ang cover version na ginawa ko. mayroong “overdub” of sorts. kinanta ko ng tatlong beses using my primitive recording equipment. di ko alam kung maganda o hindi – parang gregorian chant ng mga ngo-ngong monk.
while my guitar gently weeps. george harrison’s masterpiece. this version doesn’t have eric clapton. ngyehehe. just me singing with a sloppy guitar.
strawberry fields forever. another beatles cover – my favorite john lennon song together with “a day in the life”. i always think about what our world would have been had john not been murdered. sayang – he was really a gifted artist.
he died 25 years ago today.
I’ll follow the sun. a beatles cover – this song was a favorite when i was a kid. pag inaawit ko ngayon, binabalik ako ng kanta sa novaliches. lugar na pinaglakihan ko.

pilate’s dream. i love this haunting song from jesus christ superstar. perhaps my favorite song from that musical. great lyrics and melody.
i recorded a new song. it’s a cover of alice cooper’s classic “i never cry” which came out in 1976 (from the “alice goes to hell” album). memorable ang kantang ito sa akin dahil ito ang isa mga unang natutunan kong tipahin sa gitara. we used to sing this song a lot sa tambayan namin sa novaliches when i was growing up. ito rin ang kinanta ko nung nag audition ako sa parish choir ng aming simbahan in 1981. awa naman ng diyos eh nakuha ako – sa “bass” ako napunta pero “soprano” ang inaplayan ko. hehehe.
